December is always a month of celebrations and excitement, and the calendar’s filled with opportunities to get together with old and new friends as the year winds to a close. Here are our top picks for enjoying the city as the chill sets in.

WINTER WONDERLAND AT VICTORIA PARK

Each year for the month of December, the trees of Victoria Park are lit up, creating a Winter Wonderland where your whole family will get the lost in the magic. As you walk the paths, you might even run into Santa, who’ll be at the park daily until December 23. And the Promenade Deck on top of City Hall is also open most evenings in December, so you can take in the gorgeous view of the lights and all of London from above.

THE MAGICAL WINTER BALL

The Children’s Magical Winter Ball on December 9th is a night of luxury for the whole family. Your kids will love getting dressed up for this extravagant evening of family-friendly entertainment, activities, crafts, and fun surprises. Best of all, the ball helps support the Children’s Hospital’s Child Life Program, so you’ll be making other families happy, too! Click here for tickets.

Your family might also enjoy a Christmas Party from the past at Eldon House on December 11th, or the free Holiday Dance Party at Children's Museum the morning of December 20th.

MIX AND MINGLE ON DECEMBER 8th

December 8th is the night to get out and get together with London professionals and entrepreneurs. The evening is packed with great opportunities to share stories of 2016 and plans for 2017 at the LEDC Holiday Open House, TechAlliance Holiday Mixer, and the Dream Big Be Bold Holiday Schmooze Celebration

The Chamber of Commerce and Aeolian Hall will also host the annual Grinch Gives Back event on December 8th. This year, a performance by Ashley MacIsaac will benefit the El Sistema Children’s Music Program, which provides free music training to London kids.

If you’re really ambitious, you can make it to all these events in one night!

RING IN THE NEW YEAR

Everyone will be able to find the New Year’s Eve celebration for them this year. Here are a few of our favourite places to count down to a new beginning.

Red, White, & New Year’s is a special bash to celebrate the start of Canada’s 150th year. Come decked in red and white to enjoy the creative Canadian cuisine and 150 foot bar while you dance your way into 2017.

The London Music Club’s New Year’s Eve Party promises partying until the wee hours after a champagne toast to ring in 2017. The LMC All-Star Band will play your favourites from the 60s ‘til now at this great downtown venue.

For something family-friendly, Victoria Park will hold its annual and very popular Rockin’ New Years Eve. This year, the outdoor concert will feature local bands and Finger Eleven leading up to phenomenal fireworks display at the stroke of midnight.

So get dressed up or bundled up, and we’ll see you out there! 2016 still has lots left to enjoy in London!
