A CarProof Success Story
A CarProof Success Story
There are plenty of reasons businesses choose to partner with a destination service provider (DSP) like CityMatch. Most often, it is because employers are already driving powerful talent management programs, or they want to to differentiate themselves in the marketplace to find meaningful ways to incentivize candidates to choose London, Ontario, or they simply want to reduce employee stress and minimize productivity issues that often accompany the demanding realities of transitioning and settling into a new city.
When CarProof recently turned to CityMatch to support the relocation and settlement of their new president, it was a combination of several factors – including their desire to cultivate a progressive employer brand and a genuine interest in the positive transition of a senior executive into their organization.
Indeed, CarProof plays a big game when it comes to how they support their team and incoming talent, and it’s how they continue to win the war for talent in London. As the country’s leading provider of vehicle history reports – a critical tool when buying or selling a used vehicle - the big data firm has been named one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies, and has also been honoured with awards such as Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500, Fast 50 and London Chamber of Commerce Large Business of the Year.
CarProof had previously turned to CityMatch to review how well members of their executive team were doing after relocating to London. So when Mark Rousseau was selected to lead the company as their new president, CarProof’s Human Resources Manager, Heather Coy-Robinson, reached out to CityMatch to support his relocation and settlement. Heather knew that providing Mark with this kind of service would allow him to focus less on the details of moving from Toronto to London, and more on making a successful transition within the organization.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mark a few days before he started his new position. After an initial consultation within days of being hired, we toured the city, explored neighbourhoods that were ideally suited to his lifestyle, and arranged a number of accommodation viewings. Fortunately the perfect place for Mark to call home popped up in a historic district he immediately loved. The unfortunate detail was that this property was not available for six weeks! This prompted me to reach out to my network and the ideal short-term, fully-furnished downtown condo was quickly secured. Bonus that it was within walking distance of his new office. With the most important pieces – finding a home and neighbourhood -- behind us, I moved on to other elements of the assignment, including providing information about the city, assisting with utilities and additional matters related to settling in.
Since moving to London, Mark has actively been exploring the city and the wonderful variety of things on offer. An avid cyclist, he is quickly discovering London’s Thames Valley Parkway and is thoroughly enjoying getting acquainted with his new city. Meanwhile, CarProof is getting to know and appreciate their new leader who has been able to remain focused on the demands of his new job with the support of CityMatch.
